Happy September :) (From Sarah)

Hi Reader!

I'm not sure where you live, but I live in Virginia, and Fall is my absolute favorite season here for several reasons:

1 - The end of walking outside and being doused in my own sweat because it's so hot.

2 - Back-to-School is a cosmic invitation to treat myself to some stationery. πŸ’…

3 - The trees just seem to breathe their last, best breath and everything is green and lush with just a tinge of yellow.

I sent you a note about a month ago with a little update. I thought I'd do the same! I want to share some of the art I've been working on.

I learned about box spreads from r/drawing on Reddit. I was hooked almost immediately, so now I have a small A6 (Midori MD) just for box spreads.

I like it because it takes off the pressure of having to give a big page of your sketchbook to one perfectly executed idea. Instead, you get to draw 10-12 fun simple observations and some of them will be awesome and some won't and it's OK. :)

I'm filming a tour of my sketchbook soon and I'll share that link when it's ready... here's the thumbnail I'm working on:

Here are some of the pages I've snapped photos of in the mean time:

What are you working on?

By the way, if you'd like to see more stationery and art content, here are 3 ways you can get more inspiration directly into your eyes:

1. See all the sketchbook tours first on YouTube.

All through the month, you can see the latest sketch ideas and pens I'm using on YouTube. Click here to learn more.

2. Let's get coffee at a live event!

Throughout the year, I pop into cool stationery and pen events. This year, we can meet up at the DC Pen Show (I'll be teaching a water color session)! Click here to learn more.

3. Join the Tiny Doodle Slack.

I host a private space for pen nerds where you can share journal pics and art challenges with other artsy nerds like yourself. Click here to learn more.

You opening and reading this is a warm hug to me Reader! And I know a lot about warm hugs. The past few days, which is out of the ordinary for me, I've been at a small conference of about 10 folks who have a similar business to me. That kind of IRL kinship once again blew my heart wide open. So, my whole body hurts, but my heart is crazy full! I drew a couple of the people. I'll share it in the next note because I don't have a picture right now... Me at the conference about to do a little...

Your patience is a warm hug to me Reader! Once again I skipped a month in staying in touch. If you noticed... thanks for being patient with me :). (This is what happens when we haven't done dishes regularly enough...) Between kids and their school, a husband and his chores, my life and work and health... It's just always a lot ya know! And it still rubs me the wrong way because if I could arrange my priorities, this is actually first and most fun. So, that's a whole thing. The one silver...

Heya Reader! I'll just write (From Sarah) in the title this last time so you remember who this is. πŸ˜‚ You might have signed up after following me on LinkedIn, or after attending the DC International Fountain Pen Show. This is my art letter. Anyways. Earlier this month I sent the last Stamp Fans note and then shut it down. It is so freaking meaningful to me that it will be missed β€” Thank you Kim, truly! (A magnificent experiment from this year) There's something really bittersweet about the...
