Busy August (art stuff from Sarah)

Hiya Reader! My name is Sarah, and this is a free email list of art and journal explorations. You might have just signed up because you attended the DC Pen Show and we met... if so, HI! π You also might be subscribed from 2022 when I shared a list of fun journal prompts. Hi to you, too :). It was a long time ago, though, so no worries if this isn't interesting anymore. It's a one-click unsubscribe below. β I wanted to send a quick update today to say hi, share a few pictures from my travels in August, and see what you're up to in your journal! So first, me: It was a big month for travel in August! I was so, so lucky to attend (and teach a workshop at) the DC Fountain Pen Supershow the first weekend in August. Then I walked around the show selling the leftover fish bags like I was at the Seattle Fish Market: I picked up several things at the show. I want to do a haul video for all the events I went to, but my filming time is really limited right now because of some personal life stuff. So, as soon as I can! The highlights were two acquisitions from Les at Stylosuite.... I am so in love. Then, the very next weekend, I got to go on a solo mom adventure to the Yoseka Stationery Fest in Brooklyn! Absolutely magical. Again, I thought someone would get sick and I wouldn't get to go. But there I was, allowed to go!! I took the train up Thursday (about six hours) and made it for a walk-through that evening before going to bed. I spent most of Friday at the event. I was able to post a Yoseka Festival Walk-Through so you can click here to see that. The weekend was just what you'd expect β extraordinary food (went back to the same restaurants several times), amazing coffee, journaling all over the place, and taking in the atmosphere. I also got almost-front-row seats to Hamilton for the matinee and it was a magical experience. β After my trip, I actually got off the train early to attend my husband's band's show in a dive bar in Baltimore. And the next day we met my entire extended family for a reunion at Great Wolf Lodge. Like I said, A LOT of travel! I am still reeling and so grateful it went off without a hitch or illness. That's all for me for the rest of the year. We've got a short trip to DC for Weezer, then my husband has a Disney trip, and the rest of the time I am going to be holed up in my office happy as a clam. You opening and reading this is a warm hug to me Reader! And I know a lot about warm hugs. The past few days, which is out of the ordinary for me, I've been at a small conference of about 10 folks who have a similar business to me. That kind of IRL kinship once again blew my heart wide open. So, my whole body hurts, but my heart is crazy full! I drew a couple of the people. Your patience is a warm hug to me Reader! Once again I skipped a month in staying in touch. If you noticed... thanks for being patient with me :). (This is what happens when we haven't done dishes regularly enough...) Between kids and their school, a husband and his chores, my life and work and health... It's just always a lot ya know!
